390
professors and 7200 students engage in online teaching-learning

COVID-19 has
taken the entire world in its scary grip and India is presently in
lockdown  from 25th March to break the
chain of the virus. CHARUSAT has also extended full support to government for
the safekeeping of its staff and students. But learning is a nonstop activity
and CHARUSAT introduced learning teaching from home to keep the curriculum in
pace.

Keeping up
with this spirit, enthusiastic and committed team of 390 faculties at CHARUSAT
are providing e-learning-teaching and online digital education through Google
Classroom to around 7200 students and continuing the education and research
activities.  All the affiliated
institutes at CHARUSAT are conducting all the exams online. This entire project
is running flawlessly under the experienced supervision of Vice President of
Kelvani Mandal, the sponsoring body of university & IT advisor, CHARUSAT
Ashokbhai Patel.

CHARUSAT
professors have prepared video lectures of their respective syllabus through
various online modules and the same has now reached students through YouTube,
Google classroom. In CHARUSAT each professor has his or her own webpage &
blog, so students are getting solutions to their queries through blog email and
WhatsApp.  They are consistently getting
evaluated by professors through online quiz and tests.

15th March, when the government announced the lockdown of schools and colleges since then, the university decided to provide online education to students. To make sure that their education is not being disturbed, CHARUSAT has started to provide them teaching through online portals. All the professors conducted the lectures through the various portals from the confines of their homes.

In a bid to encourage and familiarize faculties with online education and teaching applications, Department of Computer Science/Information & Technology/Computer Application has made all the arrangements to solve their doubts. Live sessions are being conducted through YouTube Live stream, Google hangout meet and stream yard. Online video conferencing tools like Zoom, Skype, Webinar through Google Meeting as well as online learning through NPTEL are also being explored.

Ashok Patel said that Corona prompted them to start online ‘Learning From Home’. All the institutes had only 10 to 15% syllabus left, which has been completed. Now their internal tests are going on. Faculty members are ‘working from home’ and engaged in teaching-learning with students and counseling with parents through online class-video conference, assignments.

Till now, various faculties have conducted more than 500 online lectures and uploaded the videos of the same. Call it farsightedness of CHARUSAT that faculties were given special training in online teaching since long back. Dr. Amit Ganatra, Dean Faculty of technology and Engineering, CHARUSAT and said that currently all the students are attending online learning classes. 390 faculties at University are involved in providing teaching & counseling to 7200 students and their parents respectively. Dr. Atul Patel, Dean, Faculty of Computer Science & Applications also said that around 2500 UG-PG students appeared in an online elective subject exam from their homes
