CGST Vadodara I Commissionerate booked a firm and arrested one for tax evasion

The officers of Central GST, Vadodara I Commissionerate, have booked a case against a firm and arrested one for tax evasion. The action was taken regarding availing of Input tax credit fraudulently without receiving the goods.

As per the press release issued by the office, the team have booked the case against the firm in Vadodara regarding availing of Input tax Credit fraudulently without receiving the goods, i.e. Bitumen in actual under cover of invoices issued by fake suppliers situated at Gandhidham & Ahmedabad, amounting to Rs. 2.23 Crcre on the taxable value of Rs. 12.41 Crore.

The investigation conducted so far has revealed that these supplier firms existed only on paper and issuing fake invoices to their customers without supplying any goods in actual for facilitating fraudulent availment of Input Tax Credit.

Fraudulent availment of Input Tax Credit under cover of fake invoices without receiving any goods in actual is an offense under Section 132 (1) (c) of the CGST Act, 2017.

One person has been arrested on 10.08.2020 and released on bail as per the CGST Act, 2017. Further investigations are in progress by the team.
