Stock Market: Sensex erase losses, Nifty breaches 22,100 mark

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened lower before the market goes for an extended weekend.

On Friday (March 22), Nifty 50 opened 79.80 points, or 0.36 per cent lower at 21,932.20 while Sensex inched 409.53 points, or 0.56 per cent lower at 72,231.70.

International crude oil prices remained lower on weaker US gasoline demand. 

Brent crude oil edged 0.66 per cent lower at $85.21 a barrel while WTI oil price inched 0.70 per cent at $80.50 a barrel.

Asina markets remained in mixed territory with Japan’s Nikkei surpassing 41,000 mark. 

At 10:15 am, Nikkei is trading 99.75 points, or 0.26 per cent higher at 40,915.41. South Korea’s Kospi is trading 9.66 points, or 0.35 per cent at 2,745.20.
