National Green Tribunal rejected a request to use a 10-year-old diesel car in Delhi

A petition from Delhi-NCR requesting that disabled diesel vehicles be spared from the ban was denied by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The ban on 10-year-old diesel automobiles is in place because older vehicles harm the environment more than their newer counterparts in Delhi-NCR.

The petition was dismissed by the NGT court of Judge Adarsh Kumar Goel and Judge Sudhir Agarwal, according to PTI. It would be unsustainable to make a ruling on a case that has already been determined by the Supreme Court.

"Such applications in a decided matter cannot be allowed to be entertained for all times. In view of the above, the application is dismissed as not maintainable," it said.

Sarabjit A Singh's request for an exemption from the 10-year time restriction for the usage of diesel vehicles in the Delhi-NCR area was being heard by the tribunal because he is completely disabled.

The NGT had rejected a bid to modify the ruling prohibiting diesel vehicles older than 10 years in Delhi-NCR.

On the basis of pollutant emissions, the ban was imposed not only on 10-year-old diesel vehicles, but also on 15-year-old petrol vehicles.

According to a study, diesel vehicle emissions are carcinogenic, and one diesel vehicle emits pollution comparable to 24 gasoline vehicles or 40 CNG vehicles.
