Gujarat government slashed petrol and diesel prices by Rs 7 per litre

Following the Centre's price decrease in gasoline prices to bring relief to the common man, the BJP-led Gujarat government announced a reduction in petrol and diesel prices of Rs 7 per litre on Thursday (November 4).

According to the current decision, the price of petrol and diesel in Gujarat will be reduced by Rs 7.

"Prices of petrol and diesel in Gujarat will be reduced by Rs 7 per litre with immediate effect," Chief Minister's Office informed.

The Gujarat government made this decision after the Centre lowered excise duty on gasoline and diesel on Wednesday (November 3), lowering their prices. Due to a rise in worldwide crude oil prices, both gasoline and diesel prices have reached new highs in recent days.

The Finance Ministry stated on Wednesday that the excise duty on petrol will be reduced by Rs 5 and that on diesel will be reduced by Rs 10. The decreased gasoline and diesel prices will go into effect on Thursday.

The respite arrived on Diwali eve, adding to the Hindu festival's festivities. To provide assistance to consumers, the Centre had encouraged states to "commensurately lower" VAT on gasoline and diesel.Gujarat slashes petrol, diesel prices by Rs 7 per litre
