Brigadier SN Tiwari assumed the command of NCC Group Headquarters, Rajkot on 01 Sep 2020 as its 27th Group Commander. Rajkot NCC Group HQ under Gujarat Directorate looks after the training of NCC cadets in entire Saurashtra region. The Group imparts training to approximately 13,000 cadets from 73 colleges and 113 schools under its Army, Navy and Air Force NCC units.

Brig SN Tiwari is an alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa, National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He is a Special Forces Officer and was commissioned into Sixth Battalion of Parachute Regiment which he commanded.

The officer has been an epitome of excellence in Special Forces Regt of Indian Army. He has been an Airborne and Heliborne Warfare Expert and had the privilege of undertaking Joint Airborne Exercises with USA and Russia. Brig SN Tiwari was also the manager of the Indian Special Forces team that won ‘Airborne Africa’ in 2002.

The officer has been instructor at Elite Commando Wing, Belgaum. A Defence Services Staff College Graduate, he was posted to Special Operations Cell in Military Operations Directorate. He has also been Commandant of Army Airborne Training School at Agra. The officer has vast operational exposure in High Altitude and Counter Insurgency operations and commanded a brigade in the northern sector.

The officer is an accomplished Hockey player, cyclist, skydiver and a combat free faller. His wife Meena Tiwari, presently a homemaker is a PG in Hindi & Ancient History and B.Ed.
