The Pavagadh Temple Trust and the Panchmahal district administration have decided to close the Pavagadh temple from October 16 to November 1 due to the increasing prevalence of corona across the country, including Gujarat.

An important decision has been taken as 8 to 10 lakh people visit the Pavagadh temple during Navratri to pay homage to Mahakali Mata, which is likely to spread the virus across the country. A notification in this regard will be issued soon.

As millions of devotees come to see Mata in Navratri, the Pavagadh Temple Trust will set up LCD screens for live darshan of Mahakali Mata in Machi and Pavagadh foothills and the police administration is ready to maintain law and order situation if there is a crowd.

Earlier, the temple of Kalika Mataji on Pavagadh Dungar, one of the 64 Shakti Peeths across the country, was opened 111 days later after the relaxation given by the government in unlock phase. The temple was closed for darshan for devotees due to the ongoing development works and Corona pandemic. Following which, for the first time in the history of Pavagadh, the temple of Mahakali Mataji was closed during Chaitri Navratri.
