Declared best district in Western region

It’s a matter of pride for Gujarat as Bharuch district has won the award for the best performing district from the western region in Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. The district benefit 5252 women with 3.5cr and highest in the western region and get rewarded by the government.

Run by government of India PMMVY is a maternity benefit program for Pregnant and lactating women of 19 years and above for the first birth. It’s a conditional cash transfer provides a partial wage compensation to women during childbirth and childcare. It also provides conditions for safe delivery and good nutrition and feeding practices.

Bharuch district is adjudged best performing district in Matru Vandana Saptah in the western region. The high performing states and Union Territories (UT) and districts of the country recognised respect to the achievements under the scheme. The concluding ceremony of Matru Vandana Saptah at Dehradun will be at Uttrakhand where Bharuch district is invited for the achievement.

“We performed best in the western region and last year helping 5252 women with 3.5cr cash under the PMMVY scheme. The achievement is of all the ICDS (Asha workers and Anganwadi) ladies working collectively in the right way to achieve the target. We are also setting the target to help 10,000 women and will achieve it,” said Ravi Arora.
