Five members of a vehicle theft gang have been arrested in the city by Vadodara police. The gang involved in 25 bike theft cases used to go out to steal when a customer came to pick up the bike. Makarpura police have arrested five persons, including bike theft mastermind Nitin Solanki and further investigating in the case.

Nitin Arunsinh Solanki, resident of Tarsali Vishalnagar in the city, is a native of Ghoghamba in Panchmahal.  He had been living in Vadodara for some time and stealing bikes. Since Nitin was originally from Panchmahal, some people from Chhota Udepur district were in touch with him. Vehicles were needed to smuggle liquor in Chhota Udepur district, and for that they ordered Nitin to steal the bikes as per demand. After stealing the bike it was sold for 10-15 thousand.

In the last one year, 23 bikes from city along with one bike from Chhota Udepur district were stolen. In 2019 a bike from Surat was also stolen by him. Nitin made the first theft from the Harni Police Station area in 2018. In the year 2020, 23 bikes were stolen from different areas of the city.

On December 26, Makarpura police nabbed Nitin from Tarsali Ring Road red handed. During interrogation he confessed of stealing 25 bikes. The names of four people who bought stolen bikes were also revealed in the police investigation. Names of Udesingh Rameshbhai Rathwa, Tarju Rathwa, Saratan alias Lalu Rathwa and Udesingh Tersingh Rathwa came out in interrogation and all the five persons were arrested by the police. During investigation 7 undetected offences of Prohibition registered at Chhotaudepur were found and a total of 32 offences were solved by the police.
