Anti-CAA protest: Kafeel Khan arrested for ‘inflammatory remarks’ at AMU

A Special Task Force from Uttar Pradesh has arrested Dr
Kafeel Khan, whose name had popped up after Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College
oxygen tragedy, for inflammatory statements at the Aligarh Muslim University
(AMU) during an anti-CAA protest in December 2019.

Khan faces an FIR under Section 153(A) of the IPC (promoting
enmity between sections) at Aligarh. He was in Mumbai to attend a gathering at
Mumbai Bagh, where, in the model of Shaheen Bagh in Delhi, women protesters are
on an indefinite stir against the CAA.

Khan was one of the nine accused in the case involving the
death of 63 children within four days due to disruption in the supply of oxygen
at the Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Gorakhpur in August 2017.

He was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police in September
2017. But, he was later absolved of the charges of medical negligence and
corruption.
