Stand up India scheme launched by PM Narendra Modi

‘Stand up India’ scheme launched by PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday as part of the government’s efforts to support entrepreneurship among women SC & ST communities.

As part of the launch event, he distributed 5,100 e-rickshaws under the Mudra Yojna Scheme. The e-rickshaws were received by cycle rickshaw owners as well as women, according to a press statement. These e-rickshaws have been distributed for use in Delhi-NCR region, including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad. The release added that customers will now be able to book e-rickshaws through Ola mobile app and make online payment via Freecharge platform.

The scheme is intended to promote entrepreneurship among Scheduled Castes, Schedule Tribes and women and will involve loans ranging from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 1 crore. The scheme includes a composite loan of between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 100 lakh for setting up any new enterprise. In addition, borrowers will be provided a RuPay debit card to enable the withdrawal of the working capital.
