Civil records 100th cadaver donation in Gujarat
The minister commended the donation and also participated in the prayer meet at the hospital
Civil Hospital on Tuesday recorded the 100th cadaver donation of a brain-dead patient, a major milestone in history of organ donations in Gujarat and the highest for any hospital in the state.
Rushikesh Patel, the state health minister, visited the family of Nilesh Zala, the brain-dead patient, and felicitated them.
The minister commended the donation and also participated in the prayer meet at the hospital.
Hospital officials said that 26-year-old Zala, a resident of Behrampura, had met with an accident a couple of days ago.
He was declared brain-dead on Tuesday. Officials said that the procedure to retrieve organs is commenced by the team of experts.
