The festival of sacrifice, Eid-ul-Azha or Baqraeed is being celebrated with religious fervour and due reverence across the country today. Most of the worshippers offered Eid Namaz or prayers in local mosques adhering to physical distance while in some states, where lockdown is imposed, people offered prayers in their homes amid coronavirus pandemic.

The Imams, who led the prayers, appealed to the people to celebrate the festival in the spirit of brotherhood while maintaining health protocols.

Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his only son in obedience of God’s command.

In Kerala, Eid- ul- Azha was celebrated yesterday.
