Ghotia PVSM VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Air Command,
Gandhinagar flagged in the cycling team completing their expedition. South
Western Air Command (SWAC) of Indian Air Force had organized ‘Dandi Cycle
Expedition’ from 22 to 26 Jan 2020 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary
of Mahatma Gandhi and to promote the ‘Fit India Movement’ along with ‘Swachchh
Bharat Abhiyan’.

The expedition
consisting of twenty five air warriors including one lady was flagged off by
Air Marshal Sreekumar Prabhakaran VM, Senior Air Staff Officer, SWAC on 22 Jan
20.

The expedition led
by Air Vice Marshal AP Singh AVSM, pedaled down reverse of the famous route
undertaken by Mahatma Gandhi. The team enroute from Salt Satyagrah Memorial,
Dandi to Gandhinagar interacted with school children and general public in
Navasari, Ankaleshwar, Anand and Vadsar to spread the message of ‘Swachchh
Bharat, Swasth Bharat’.

2020 71st Republic Day.  

Speaking on the
occasion Air Marshal SK Ghotia motivated all air warriors to utilize the
bicycle as an alternate means of transport to save non renewable source of
energy and to promote health & fitness.  He also appreciated and
lauded the efforts of the expedition team.
