Air Marshal Sandeep Singh AVSM VM took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), South Western Air Command (SWAC) at Gandhinagar on 01 May 2021. He succeeds Air Mshl SK Ghotia PVSM VSM ADC, who retired on 30 April 2021.
On taking over Command, the Air Marshal placed a wreath on the War Memorial and was presented with an impressive Guard of Honour at HQ SWAC, Gandhinagar.
The Air Marshal was commissioned in the Fighter Stream on 22 December 1983. He is an alumni of the National Defence Academy and the National Defence College. He is an Experimental Test Pilot and a Cat A Qualified Flying Instructor. The Air Marshal has a rich and diverse experience in operational and experimental test flying on various types of fighter aircraft. He was a key player in the induction of Su-30 MKI aircraft in the Indian Air Force.
He was the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS) prior to his present assignment. For his distinguished service, he was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2006 and ‘Ati Vishisht Seva Medal’ in 2013. The Air Marshal is married to Kamini Singh.
