As part of Republic Day Celebrations 2020, Air Force Station Jamnagar was opened to the general public, particularly school children to witness various military assets of the IAF under the theme ‘Know Your Forces’. The event was conducted on 24 Jan 2020 from 10 am to 5 pm which included static display of fighter aircraft, helicopters, missile system, radars and an array of equipment including weapons.

Awareness and publicity stalls were also placed alongside the static display to provide an insight into various facets of the IAF. The publicity stall also provided information on career prospects in the IAF. IAF’s role in aid to civil authorities was brought out through screening of movies depicting its role in peace time relief operations. Air warriors interacted with visitors to provide first hand information about various tasks undertaken by the IAF.

The event was held with great military pride and passion. It was witnessed by a large number of the civilian population and school children. Various competitions were conducted for school children where they participated enthusiastically. Attractive prizes were given to the winners. A specially designed entertainment program by the air warriors painted the event with patriotic colour and fervour.

The crowd was enthralled with the slithering operation done by Garud Commandos and a spectacular fly-past by Jaguar aircraft. The event truly depicted the motto of the Indian Air Force ‘Nabhah Sparsham Diptam’ (Touch the Sky with Glory)
