District Collector handover incentive amount cheque under the Chief Minister’s Women Water Committee Incentive Scheme

The management capacity of women is unmatched in every field and even among the various social and other responsibilities, there is a feeling that no one can reach the women power in house and water system, said Shalini Agarwal, District Collector of Vadodara.

She handed over the cheques of incentive amount to the women water committees of the villages of the district who have set an example of good work in the year 2020-21 under the Chief Minister Women Water Committee Promotion Scheme managed by District Water and Sanitation Unit – Wasmo.  The purpose of this scheme is to increase the participation of village women in the management of rural water supply schemes and to motivate them.

The women water supply committees of 9 villages of Vadodara district are eligible for this incentive based on their excellent performance. Each of these committees has been given an amount of 50 thousand.

Out of these 9 committees four are from Shinor taluka. Among the winning committees which have proved that women are the best water managers through the noble work of village water system are Damapur, Nana Karala, Kukas and Avakhal of Shinor, Pura and Haldharwa of Karjan taluka, Nahara and Kunpad of Savli taluka. Women’s Water Committees of Asoj in Waghodia taluka is also included in the list.

Rural water committees with more than 70% of the members as women are considered as women water committees. Remember that Grameen Pani Samiti is one of the most important committees of the Panchayat. The District Collector described these noble committees as motivators for other villages.

It is to mention here that District Collector Shalini Agarwal has presented an excellent model of water supply management of the district through Panch Jal Setu Yojana which is a strong proof of the expertise of women in water management.
