Industrial units in South Gujarat get relief as electricity restrictions are withdrawn ahead of the festive season.
Surat’s industrial sector has received relief ahead of Diwali as Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) has cancelled the planned stagger-day power cuts for industries.
The decision comes after concerns were raised by industrialists over the impact of electricity restrictions on production, pending orders and deliveries during the festive season. Textile and other industrial units across South Gujarat were worried that power cuts could delay work and cause financial losses.The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) had urged the authorities to reconsider the timing of the power cuts, highlighting the importance of uninterrupted electricity for completing Diwali orders.
The cancellation is expected to provide relief to industrial units working against tight deadlines. However, industries will continue to monitor the electricity supply situation as demand remains high during the festive period.
