Four-day long Teeka Utsav, a special vaccination drive against coronavirus, will begin across the country from today. The Vaccine Festival is commencing today on the Birth anniversary of social reformer Jyotiba Phule and will end on the 14th of this month coinciding with the Birth Anniversary of the Chief Architect of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar.

Interacting with Chief Ministers regarding the COVID-19 situation on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for organizing Teeka Utsav.

In Bihar, four lakh people will be vaccinated each day during Tika Utsav. Chief Minister Nitsh Kumar has exhorted people to come forward for vaccination to contain the corona pandemic. Two lakh 52 thousand 835 people took the vaccine during the past 24 hour in the state. Over 46 lakh 83 thousand 143 people have so far been vaccinated in the State. State government has demanded 30 lakh dose from the centre.

Union Minister of State for health and family welfare Ashwani Kumar Choubey called for upgradation of RT-PCR machines in the state as per the guidelines of Indian Council of Medical Research. The minister said all states have been requested to conduct more than 75 Covid tests through RT-PCR method.

Meanwhile, a record 3469 fresh cases were reported during the last 24 hours. Patna, alone reported 1431 cases. Eleven thousand 998 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals of the state.

Covid-19 recovery rate is also decreasing and it is at 95.13 per cent now. Two lakh 65 thousand 870 patients have been recovered from the infection in the State so far.
