Covid patient has to stay alone in the hospital during treatment. Due to the contagious nature of the disease, relatives cannot stay with the patient for care and the hospital staff is the only ones caring for them.

In this situation it is natural for the patient to feel lonely and anxious for his relatives.  As a solution to this problem, with the help of the control room of the covid facility of Sayaji Hospital, the relatives of the patients have been given special facility to talk to the family members under treatment through video or audio call. Special 12 to 13 smart mobile sets are also provided for this purpose where the relatives get to know the treatment as well as other details of the patients.

Giving details Administrative Nodal Officer Dr. O.B. Belim said, from August to the beginning of November, a total of 12176 video and audio calls have been made by the control room and help desk to make a significant contribution in establishing a bridge of communication between patients and their relatives. Not only urban but also patients from remote areas like Chhotaudepur, Kawant and Madhya Pradesh have used the facility to call their relatives under treatment in the hospital.

From a total of 3470 video and 8706 audio calls, the relatives get in touch with the families under treatment in which contact service was provided by the control room.  The benefit of this service is also given to those who come to the desk and who do not have their own phone. Along with this, at the control room, the patient’s clothes, snacks are taken from the relatives and delivered to the patient with an assurance to them.

The service is 24 hours guidance under head of the PSM department, Dr. Sangeeta Patel with significant contributions from fellow
    doctors.
