Renovated
lobby inaugurated by oldest & youngest motormen
Taking a step towards passenger convenience and satisfaction
or its employee’s welfare, Western Railway took one such step in this
direction. The initiative is the provision of renovated Motorman or Guard lobby
at Churchgate & Borivali alongwith Tranquility Room for meditation and
soothing de-stressing moments.
According to a press release issued by WR CPRO Ravinder
Bhakar, the newly constructed Tranquility Room was inaugurated by General
Manager of W. Rly – Alok Kansal on 14th February, 2020 in the presence of G V L
Satyakumar – Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai Division, W. Rly and senior
officers of Headquarters & Division. While the newly renovated
Motorman/Guard lobby was inaugurated by oldest Motorman Arvind Bapat and
youngest Motorman Ram Oraon in the presence of Alok Kansal – General Manager of
W. Rly.
The Tranquility room has been equipped with soothing lights,
candles, attractive paintings & seating arrangements so that the motormen
and guards can meditate before piloting the local trains. The newly renovated Motorman / Guard lobby is
1320 sq. ft, by extending the existing area (858 sq. ft.) by another 462 sq.
ft. This place has been completely overhauled with new wooden flooring, sound
proof glass windows and roller blinds & paintings to give the lobby a
relaxing and peaceful ambience. It has also been provided with a recreation
area with indoor games like chess and carom.
The Tranquility room has been created keeping in mind to provide the motorman & guards adequate space to rejuvenate, reduce their stress and relieve of their tensions before piloting the heavily congested suburban network extending from Churchgate to Dahanu Road (123 kms).
This room of 378 sq. ft. is also having sound proof partition glass, false ceiling, antic wooden roller blinds, and wooden floors with seating arrangements/cushions for Yoga as well as meditation. The candles, soothing lighting arrangements and the paintings especially the Life of Tree pictures enables to immerse oneself into a calm and relaxing mode. These upgrades have been done at a total cost of 18.50 lakhs.
Similarly, the Borivali lobby too has been renovated and
upgraded with improvement to the lobby area, the cafeteria & recreation
room as well as to the Kitchen/ Washroom area alongwith a Tranquility Room.
This was inaugurated in the presence of V. K. Tripathi – Additional General
Manager of W. Rly, G V L Satyakumar – Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai
Division, W. Rly and senior officers of Headquarters & Division. The
improvement and upgradation has been undertaken at a total cost of Rs. 23.50
lakhs
