US reports 2nd human case of bird flu linked to dairy cow outbreak

A dairy farm worker in Michigan has been diagnosed with the bird flu H5N1 virus - the second case linked to an outbreak in dairy cows in the United States.

According to US health officials, the worker suffered only minor eye symptoms and has recovered.

The first case of the virus was reported in March this year in a dairy worker from Texas, who also suffered minor symptoms and has recovered, the US health officials said.

According to the CDC, the current health risk from the virus to people is low. However, it suggested that cases are likely to rise.

According to the CDC, bird flu in humans looks similar to seasonal influenza or upper respiratory infection.

The symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, muscle aches, headache, fatigue, shortness of breath, eye redness, diarrhoea, nausea, and vomiting.

In some severe cases, the virus can lead to pneumonia, respiratory failure, and other complications.
