Slovenia on Saturday deployed additional forces along the Croatia and Hungary borders to prevent security threats after Italy has imposed border restrictions along the Slovenia border.

The Slovenian government said temporary border controls will be introduced till October 30.

According to Slovenian news agency STA, police were deployed on 14 border crossings with Croatia and Hungary.

Obrezje crossing along the border with Croatia witnessed long queues with travellers awaiting for security checks.

There were no checks conducted along the border since January 1.

Earlier this week, Italy reinstated border controls with Slovenia as part of its strategy to improve home security citing threats of terrorist attacks in Europe.

Meloni had informed that the European Union authorities were informed of the decision.
