As a symbol of gratitude, Mauritius government dedicates a metro station to Mahatma Gandhi

As a token of gratitude for India's help for the Metro Express project, the Mauritius government has dedicated a major metro station to Mahatma Gandhi. "To pay gratitude to India's support for the Metro Express project, my government has decided to name one of the major metro stations as Mahatma Gandhi station," While inaugurating the Social Housing Units Project in Mauritius with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth stated.

In Mauritius, the heads of state virtually lay the foundation stone for the Civil Service College and an 8 MW solar PV farm. The India-Mauritius cooperation, according to Prime Minister Modi, has emerged as a vital pillar of strong ties. He also stated that Mauritius is an excellent example of India's approach to international engagement, which is based on our partners' needs and goals while respecting their sovereignty.

But that's not all when it comes to diplomatic reciprocity between India and Mauritius; the two nations have also exchanged a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and an agreement. Both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Indian Grant Assistance for Small Development Project Implementation. Export Import Bank of India (EXIM) and SBM (Mauritius) Infrastructure Development Company Limited signed a $190 million line of credit agreement for the ongoing Metro Express Project and other infrastructure projects.

The Government of India has given the Government of Mauritius a grant of $353 million as part of a Special Economic Package (SEP) to carry out five priority projects identified by the Mauritius government. The Metro Express Project, the Supreme Court Building, the New ENT Hospital, the Distribution of Digital Tablets to Primary School Children, and the Social Housing Project are among these projects.
