The 75th Independence day of India was celebrated in Bangladesh at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka and Assistant High Commissions at Khulna, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Chattogram. The programme was attended by the members of the Indian community though the number was kept restricted due to the ongoing corona pandemic in the country.
At the Chancery complex in Dhaka, the flag hoisting ceremony was followed by the reading of the President's address by the High Commissioner of India Vikram Doraiswami. Patriotic songs were rendered by a group of artists from India and Bangladesh. High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami met the members of the Indian community and exchanged the independence day greetings.
At the Assistant High Commission of India at Khulna, flag hoisting was followed by the reading of the President's message by the Asst. High Commissioner Rajesh Raina. A special selfie corner was prepared on the theme of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotasav (AKAM) which was very popular with the invited guests including Indians from major companies like BHEL, NTPC, IRCON and L&T among others.
The Assistant High Commissioner of India at Rajshahi Sanjeev Bhati unfurled the national flag. It was followed by showing of video clips related to the AKAM commemorating the 75 years of India's independence. Students of the local Barind Medical College presented a medley of patriotic songs. Prime Minister Modi's speech from Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day was also shown to the audience. Members of the Indian community, students, ICCR scholars, local administration, media personnel were present on the occasion.
In Sylhet, the Asst. High Commission of India celebrated the Independence Day function with a video of Gala Performance by ICCR, short video on Global Digital Painting and Poster Making Competition and video on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
