    Woman Congress councillor from Vadodara was detained by the police after she tried to sit on fast in pouring rain outside the corporation office on Friday. She sit in protest after put allegations of widespread corruption and misconduct perpetrated by the rulers of Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan in the name of smart city during the last five years.

    Put allegations of corruption against the VMC for the last five years, Congress councillor Ami Rawat sit on protest outside the office and alleged that during the five years rule nothing has been developed in the city.

    At the general meeting of the corporation not a single question has been answered related to people’s development. She allege that only corruption is there in big projects in the name of smart city. Even in the name of area badge development, there has been a lot of corruption by the rulers.

    She further said that for the last eight months, questions was asked in the general body related to development oriented projects of the people. But the ruling party avoid to give answers which clearly shows that corruption has taken place by the ruling party. Despite sitting on the floor three times in the general meeting her questions were unanswered.

    She said, the ruling BJP came to power by showing dreams of a smart city. But in the last five years, 20 lakh people of Vadodara have been fooled in the name of smart city. In the name of Area badge development corruption has been committed in the name of area badge development by showing wrong projects in the central government.

    500 crore projects were to be done in the station area and 1800 crore projects were to be done in Vadodara. But only Rs 5.50 crore road project and Rs 65 lakh wall have been constructed. The street vendor policy has also not been implemented and the main reason is corruption. Today she regret being a member of the board of the corporation.

    Congress women councilor Ami Rawat sits on a symbolic fast to expose corruption and mismanagement by the corporation’s rulers. She was detained by police as soon as on she tried to sit under the rain. At one point there was a confrontation between the police and the councilor. She said to be continue her fight against the corruption.
