If you are a junior level Wipro employee, there are high chances that you may get promoted this year. The IT giant has decided to double the number of promotions in December.

In its quarterly result announcement last week, the company had said it plans to offer 5,000 promotions in the December quarter, in an attempt to retain digital talent. The promotions will be given for the employees with experiences of five to eight years.

According to a Business Standard reports, employees at L1 level would be promoted to L2 level and L2 staff would be promoted to L3. IT firms categorise employees into various levels starting from L1 (junior most level) onwards.

Wipro’s chief human resources officer Saurabh Govil had also said that it has hired over 9,000 people in the first six months of the year, which is 1.5 times more than the first half of last year.

In the last quarter, Wipro has managed to reduce the attrition rate to 16% from 17.9% in the June quarter due to several involvements including mid course salary hikes, bonus and promotions.

Wipro paid a retention bonus of Rs 1 lakh to freshers in the June quarter. This financial year has been good for the IT employees. Indian IT companies has increased their hiring by 50% in the second quarter of this fiscal.

The net employee hiring by the top three IT companies, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Wipro went up 59% in the September quarter compared to the June quarter. TCS, Infosys and Wipro, collectively, hired 28,157 employees in the quarter.
