Cows fell ill after eating ghughari: 174 birds were injured and 61 cattle fell ill on the day of Uttarayan

Informing that the wing of a foreign guest Gray Leg Goose was cut off in Savli on the day of Uttarayan due to a sharp string, Range Forest Officer Nidhi Dave said that a rare horned owl (Indian Eagle Owl) was also injured and brought to Vadodara for treatment. Treatment of injured animals and birds has been started from 10th under Karuna Abhiyan. A total of 394 birds have been injured since the 10th, including a large number of pigeons.

Currently, the Animal Husbandry and Forest Department has jointly arranged treatment of injured animals at Bhutdizampa Veterinary Hospital, Veterinary Hospital near Pandya Bridge and Forest Department’s Sayajibagh Nursery. Shelter has also been arranged at the nursery till the injured birds are treated.

Currently, under Bird Flu precautions there are about 65 PPEs arranged for the protection of those engaged in treatment of the birds. Informing that arrangements like kits and hand gloves and sanitizer have been made, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Dr. Prakash Darji said that 174 injured birds and 61 sick animals were treated on the day of Uttarayan. Cows often get sicker when they eat too much.

Injured birds include pigeons, parrots, bats, crows, black eyebiz, gray leg geese, painted storks, lapwing, cuckoos, ducks, partridges, chibries, eagles. The treatment centers will continue till the 20th and the injured birds will be kept under shelter at the nursery till they recover completely.
