    Makar Sankranti, which is also known as the festival of Sankrant is one of the most celebrated festivals in Gujarat. Gujaratis fly kites and eat some mouthwatering street food and snacks on this day. In other regions of India, the festival of Sankrant gets celebrated in a different manner and also known by different names. It always gets celebrated on the 14th of January.

    3. Sun visits his son Shani

    As per the Hindu mythology, Sun and Shany are divine for Hindus. Shany is one of the lords and he is also the son of deity Sun. Both, father and son do not share a cordial relation with each other. Despite all bitterness, on the day of Sankrant, father sun visits the house of his son Shany. He also makes a stay for one long month with his son. This symbolizes the eternal relation of a father and son and how forgiving a father could be. Thus, one of the reasons to celebrate Makar Sankranti is celebrating the divine relationship between a father and a son.

    4. A big event for astrologers

    If you are one of the strong believers of astrologers find this festival worth celebrating as on this day deity Sun transits to Capricorn (Makar Rashi) from Sagittarius (Dhanu Rashi). This changes many things related to astrology because the Sun is the lord of wisdom, light, knowledge, and spirituality.

    5. Good events can be conducted after Sankrant

    As per the Hindu Mythology, there is a one month from mid-December to mid-January in which no good event can take place. On the day of Sankrant, that malign one month gets over and then the good events and functions such as engagement, wedding, baby shower, etc. can be conducted. This is definitely one of the biggest reasons to celebrate the Sankrant festival.
