    2. Say bye-bye to winter

From Sankranti, the days get extended as the Sun stays longer to spread light and warmth. Those cool and dry winds of winter say goodbye on this day and that is one of the reasons to celebrate Makar Sankranti.

    3. Sun visits his son Shani

As per the Hindu mythology, Sun and Shany are divine for Hindus. Shany is one of the lords and he is also the son of deity Sun. As per the Hindu Mythology, there is a one month from mid-December to mid-January in which no good event can take place. On the day of Sankrant, that malign one month gets over and then the good events and functions such as engagement, wedding, baby shower, etc. can be conducted.
