Feed them twice a day along with water

Due to lockdown in Vadodara city the street dogs are in miserable condition as no one is there to feed them like in normal days. Their condition is bad specially in commercial areas. In such condition a whatsapp group of 90 people comes to rescue and feed the dogs in their areas.

Asawari Dighe, who lives in Manjalpur area, said, “I have been caring pet dogs for the last ten years. Due to the lockdown situation the condition of street dogs has become deplorable. The society dogs get the food but those roam in the commercial area do not get food. To care such dogs we started the Our WhatsApp group to ensure that they get two meals a day, morning and evening, as well as water in their area.”

She further said that the group has 90 animal lovers as members and 80 of them get the corporation pass to feed the dogs. The members in the group are comprised of people from most parts of the city and they are feeding the dogs in their area with home made food. Individuals in the group shared the work as People who go to feed dogs in the morning do not go in the evening and vice versa.

Along with food the members also sure to manage water for the dogs. The food are also provided in the dishes which the volunteers carries along with them.

She said Nitya Tank is serving the dogs in TP 13 Chhani area, Priyanka Banerjee is serving in Ankodia, Sevasi Road, Gotri, Alkapuri, ISKCON Heights and Manisha Raj at

Makarpura, Tarsali, Maneja, Jambua. Similarly volunteers from different parts of the city are providing food two times a day to the street dogs.

Asawari said they don’t have any voluntary organization and the members of their whatsapp group are voluntarily helping the dogs at their own expense. They are also taking help from animal welfare organisations for treating stray dogs. She appealed people to join and help the dogs on their own or else assist the people working in feeding the dogs.
