Two to Delhi and one to Kota
In the relentless fight against COVID-19, Railways is taking rapid action to swiftly move the Oxygen Tankers across the states. To strengthen the united fight against COVID-19 and for bringing relief to the COVID patients, Western Railway has run three more Oxygen Express trains carrying Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO.) in less than 24 hrs on 5/6th May, 2021. Till now, Western Railway has run total eight Oxygen Express trains transporting 641.32 tonnes LMO.
According to a press release issued by Sumit Thakur – Chief Relations Officer of Western Railway, on the night of 5th May and morning of 6th May, 2021, Western Railway ran three more Oxygen Express trains, two to Delhi and one to Kota in Rajasthan. One Oxygen Express departed from Hapa in Gujarat on 5th May, 2021 for Delhi Cantt., with 3 Oxygen Tankers which contained about 63 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen. It reached its destination in the evening of 6th May, 2021.
The second Oxygen Express departed from Hapa on 6th May, 2021 for Delhi Cantt., carrying 3 Oxygen Tankers with about 61 tonnes of LMO. Both these Oxygen Express trains cover a distance of 1105 km to reach Delhi. They run via Rajkot, Surendranagar, Viramgam, Mahesana, Palanpur and Rewari.
The third Oxygen Express departed from Hapa at 11.53 hrs on 6th May, 2021 for Kota, containing 3 tankers with about 41 tonnes of LMO. The train will be run via Rajkot, Surendranagar, Viramgam, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Godhra and Nagda. It will cover a distance of 920 Km. These Tankers are provided by M/s Reliance Industries, Jamnagar.
Thakur stated that till now, Western Railway has run 8 Oxygen Express trains & transported 641.32 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO). These trains were given top priority and were run with all safety measures, being cryogenic cargo at more than 50kmph.
Indian Railways is continuing its journey of bringing relief to the patients by delivering Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to various states across the country in a mission mode. So far, upto 5th May, 2021, Indian Railways has delivered approx. 2067 MT of LMO in 137 tankers to various states viz. Maharashtra (174 MT), Uttar Pradesh (641 MT), Madhya Pradesh (190 MT), Delhi (707 MT), Haryana (229 MT) & Telangana (127 MT).
