1.5 lakh passengers benefited by 1188 special train services and 2126 extra coaches.

Aiming and implementing its prime motto of Safety, Service & Speed, Western Railway has set an unique example in the field of passenger service during the recent festive season. From 1st August the start of festive season till date 1188 special trains were scheduled to be operated, while 2126 additional coaches were added in various regular trains. Some of the special trains in various directions will continue to be operated till forthcoming Christmas and New Year festive season.

Besides this strict action was also ensured by Western Railway in all 6 divisions to prevent black marketing of rail tickets during festive season. Through surprise checks and raids by Railway Protection Force, Vigilance and Commercial Departments of WR 1 crore reserved train tickets was seized in which so many high profile touts were apprehended for necessary action.

According to press release issued by Ravinder Bhakar, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, during the period from 1st August, 2018 till date, a total of almost 1 lakh passengers travelled in special trains including Special trains on special fare and Suvidha Special trains in reserved category. This resulted in additional revenue of Rs.9.65 crore. By augmenting the trains on temporary basis 68 thousand passengers benefitted, Rs.5.34 crore revenue was generated. It is pertinent to mention that unreserved coaches were brought from the yard in locked/secured condition to prevent antisocial elements from cornering of seats.

Strict instructions were issued to the checking staff to confiscate badges of licensed porters indulging in seat cornering. Proper queuing arrangements for unreserved passengers holding unreserved current tickets were done for important stations.

With an aim to provide enhanced service to passengers 59 Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sevaks (JTBS), 42 Station Ticket Booking Agent (STBA) have been appointed on this Railway for booking of Unreserved tickets. Further 48 Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra (YTSK) have also been appointed for booking of reserved and unreserved tickets.
