Comprises of 70 books on different topics and 35 storybooks for children

Making their efforts to make the train journey more enjoyable Western Railway introduced a library inside one of its premium trains from this new year. The innovative facility especially for its passengers is introduced on Mumbai Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express.

To promote reading among its commuters, Western Railway has introduced a library in the Anubhuti coach of the Mumbai Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express from 1st January, 2019. The initiative was widely appreciated by the passengers as the facility is a boon to the readers to kill time during the journey.

According to a press release issued by WR CPRO Ravinder Bhakar, the library comprises of 70 books on different topics ranging from history, politics, mystery, biographies, fictions, self-help books and 35 storybooks for children. These books have been received through donations.

Passengers have free access to the library and can pick a book of their likeness for the duration of the journey and must return the book before alighting the train, to the onboard ticketing staff. Bhakar also stated that with the amount of tremendous response received from the passengers, it has been planned to be introduced in other executive trains in the near future.

In this fast paced, mobile phone generation, Western Railway’s this initiative is trying to rekindle the joy of reading. This small step will heIp to create and facilitate an environment that encourages the habit of book reading.
