PLANNING TO FLAG OFF 2nd UPGRADED RAKE UNDER ‘PROJECT UTKRISHT’ ON 24TH JANUARY, 2019

The second upgraded rake of Western Railway under ‘Project Utkrisht’ will be flagged off from Valsad Station of Western Railway’s Mumbai Division at 08.15 pm on 24th January, 2019. Passengers of Train No. 22909/22910 Valsad – Puri Express, which runs every Thursday from Valsad and Train No. 19055/19056 Valsad – Jodhpur Express, on every Tuesday, will be able to enjoy upgraded amenities with a delightful travel experience. It is worth mentioning that recently the first upgrade rake of Train No. 19053 Surat – Muzaffarpur Express and Train No. 12945/12946 Surat – Mahuva/Bhavnagar Express was flagged off on 28th December, 2018.

According to a press release issued by WR CPRO Ravinder Bhakar, under the Phase-I of this project, Indian Railways have targeted to upgrade 66 pairs of trains comprising 140 rakes. Twenty rakes of Western Railway are to be upgraded under Phase-I of this project at a cost of Rs 60 lakhs per rake. Upgradation of six rakes had been taken up by Mumbai Central Division of Western Railway. The renovation and upgradation work is being completed at the Coaching Depot Valsad of Mumbai Division and this will be the second upgraded rake to be put in service by Western Railway.

Bhakar stated that the upgradation work of the remaining four rakes is also under progress of Train No. 12921/12922 Surat – Mumbai Flying Rani Express, Train No. 22903/22904 Bandra – Bhuj AC Express and Train No. 12961/12962 Mumbai Central – Indore Jn. Avantika Express. Western Railway is targeting to introduce all these upgraded rakes before 31st March, 2019.

This work has been carried out by the Mechanical Team of Mumbai division headed by Prafulla V. Kohade – Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Coordination) of the Rolling Stock department of Western Railway.

Coaches painted on exterior with Anti graffiti PU paint under the new Beige and Maroon Utkrisht color scheme.

Provision of energy efficient LED lights doubling the illumination level.

Epoxy flooring in all coach toilets for easy cleaning and good aesthetic appearance.

Colour coordinated vinyl film wall patterns in the gang way and lavatory wall area in AC coaches.

High resolution printed Heritage posters/Scenic images with Utkrisht Logo.

Good quality branded Dual flush valve for improved flushing.

Two way bib cocks with water conserving aerators.

Health faucet for better hygiene in all coaches including unreserved coaches.

Unique Ventury ventilation system for improved circulation and reduced smell in toilets.

Automatic hygiene and odour control system in AC coach toilet.

Wall mounted push type soap dispenser with foam discharge in AC coach.

Premium quality Seat and cover in Western style Toilets of all coaches.

Automatic seat cover dispenser in Western style toilets in AC coach.

Retro reflective destination boards and coach number plates having night glow features.

Night glow seat number indication in the passage area for ease in identification of seats during night time.

A unique short announcement system in some bio toilets for creating awareness regarding Do’s and Don’ts.

Combined notice board having high resolution printing mentioning Emergency numbers and Services at one location.

Improved quality climbing arrangement made of Stainless steel for upper berths passengers
