Each year April 7 marks the celebration of World Health Day. From its inception at the First Health Assembly in 1948 and since taking effect in 1950, the celebration has aimed to create awareness of a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization.
The theme for World Health Day 2021 is ‘Building a fairer, healthier world’. According to WHO surveys, smoking can increase the infection of covid COVID-19.
A special survey was conducted by Faith Foundation of 20 restaurants in Vadodara city regarding compliance of COTPA 2003 section 4. According to these restaurants they did not have “No Smoking Area” signages. In 65% of the places, people were seen smoking. Bidi scraps / ash / cigarette butts were found in 61.9% of the places. All these matters are in violation of Section 4 of the COTPA 2003. (There should be a “No Smoking Area” sign in a public place, a public place where the general public can move around as they wish. Hotels / restaurants are also included in the public space.)
On the occasion of World Health Day Faith Foundation organises the webinar discussed the topics about basic knowledge of HIV, TB, relation between COVID-19 and Tobacco.
