The scheduled time of voting for 76 seats of 19 wards of Vadodara Municipal Corporation has started at 7 am on Sunday. The voters will decide the fate of 280 candidates in the fray.

Amidst Corona fear the Covid-19 guideline was strictly followed by election staff as well as voters. Voters were admitted to the polling station with mandatory masks and social distance. Tight police arrangements have been made at the polling booths to prevent any untoward incident.

In the wake of the corporation election amid fears of Corona, some voters came to the polls early in the day and exercised their sacred right to vote. As the day moves the voters in good numbers.

Enthusiasm was especially high among young voters. Arrangements were made for senior citizen voters by various political parties in vehicles such as auto rickshaws, cars, two-wheelers to bring voters to the polling station and drop them back at their homes.

In addition, various political parties have placed their workers with voter lists by placing tables 100 meters away from the polling booths so that voters do not have any difficulty in going to the polls. Most voters chose to cast their ballots in the morning.

Voting began at a slow pace at some polling stations. Barely one or two voters came to cast their votes at a distance of 10-15 minutes. So queues of voters were seen at some polling stations since morning. One voter after another is being admitted to the polling booths to prevent a rush of voters.

Voters were stuck due to changes in the wards due to the new delimitation. But the polling staff helped them as the administration has placed officials at every booth to ensure smooth flow of election.
