Yesterday on 25th Dec, VMC launched a 100 days campaign by the name MISSION CASHLESS VADODARA in presence of Minister of State (MOS) Urban Development Shankarbhai Chowdhari and Prabhari Sachiv L Chuaungo.

Following the campaign all the departments will go cashless from today Monday including contractors, service providers and manpower agencies working with the VMC. They all have to give undertaking for the same for switching to 100% cashless transactions.

The initiative was launched on 25th December and implemented from Monday. According to VMC Commissioner Dr. Vinod Rao from Monday, today all outgoing payments of VMC will be made digitally and cashless.

More importantly, all contractors, service providers and manpower agencies working with VMC will give undertaking that they will also switch to 100% cashless transactions, as part of their contractual agreement with VMC. This will ensure that all manpower payments made by these agencies to their employees and laborers will necessitate opening of accounts in their name and digital transfer of funds. This will eliminate/ minimize false staff attendance.

Furthermore he stated that all incoming payments for VMC will also switch to cashless over a period of time, starting with POS and facilities for all modes of cashless transfer at Central Office, all 12 Ward Offices, and all Departments from 25th December.

VMC has tied up with all major Banks of Vadodara City and facility for payment of tax/ receipts/ charges has been started in more than 200 branches of various banks. This will be further increased to 300-400 branches in the next 100 days. VMC will eventually shift to 100% receipts of all taxes and receivables only through Bank Branches by 1st of April, 2017.

On 25th December, VMC entered into MoUs with about 25-30 leading Associations of stakeholders like VCCI, FGI, CREDAI, Street Vendors, Restaurants, Medical Shops, Grain Merchants, Fruits and Vegetable Merchants, Transporters, Tour Operators etc. to organize camps and training programs of their members for cashless transactions. VMC will facilitate these camps and training programs.

VMC will start Information, Facilitation and Grievance Redressal facility for cashless transaction at Jan Sewa Kendras at Central Office and all Ward Offices starting from 1st January, 2017.

VMC will also engage all Universities, private schools, defense establishments, PSUs, malls, movie halls etc to reach out to maximum number of stakeholders in the next 100 days.
