VMC Health department teams checked canteens of hospitals treat Corona patients

The health department food teams of Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan conduct checking in the canteens of Gotri and private hospitals in the city on Wednesday. Lack of cleanliness was observed in the canteen during the checking by the teams. Following which Schedule-4 notice was given to the canteen administrators.

Corona patients numbers are on the rise in the city and administration is taking every possible measure to fight the pandemic. In between complaints were raised that quality items were not available in the canteen of Sayaji Hospital in Vadodara.

Following the complaints, the food teams of the health department carried out checking and took samples of various food items from the canteen and sent them to the laboratory for examination.

After the complaints raised from Sayaji Hospital, the health official Dr. Mukesh Vaidya had instructed to check in the hospitals treating patients of Corona in the city, including Gotri Hospital. Following which 4 teams were formed and checked a total of 10 hospitals including Gotri Hospital as well as hospitals treating Corona patients.

An investigation by food teams revealed that most of the canteens lacked cleanliness. Following which notice was given to the canteen administrators as per schedule-4 and strongly urged canteen administrators to maintain cleanliness.

Also the teams specially checked about whether the rules of Covid-19 are followed by the canteen administrators. The teams collected samples of various items made in the canteen as well as various items available and sent for checking.

In addition, the food safety officers checked whether the canteen is licensed, the quality of the food in the kitchen, and whether the customers and administrators in the canteen maintain social distance as well as wearing masks. The designated officer and additional health officer of the municipal corporation, Dr. Mukesh Vaidya said that all the canteens in government, private as well as trust hospitals treating corona patients would be inspected periodically.

Strict action will be taken against the canteen administrators located in the hospitals which do not follow the rules of Covid-19.
