31 shops raided and 33 food samples collected by the teams
Ahead of Dussehra, the Health Department of Vadodara Municipal Corporation raided 31 shops selling popular delicacy of Fafda and Jalebi in the city to check any adulteration during this time. The team collected around 33 samples for laboratory testing.
Dussehra is famous for Fafda Jalebi and maximum farsan shop owners put up stalls to meet the heavy demand of the people. Selling is already started and people are purchasing the same as the festival of Dusherra falls on Sunday.
On the occasion of the upcoming Dussehra festival, 6 teams of food safety officers raided 31 shops selling sweets and farsans and carried out food checking operations. The team checked in areas of Raopura, Dandia Bazaar, Alakpuri, Makarpura, Manjalpur, Fategunj, Navayard, Waghodia Road, Chokhandi and Khanderao Market. During the checking the teams collected samples of Fafda, Jalebi, Besan, Oil, ghee, chatni and sent for lab testing.
It may be noted here that the operation was carried out by the health department as per the order of the state government in view of the Corona epidemic and the upcoming festivals.
