Virat Kohli, the captain of the Indian cricket team, scored a brilliant century in the first innings on the second day of the Pune Test match against South Africa.

This is 26th of Kohli’s Test career and his 69th century in International cricket. Virat has raised his number of Test centuries to 12 on domestic soil.

This is the second century of Kohli as a Test captain against South Africa. Earlier, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar had scored a century each.

Virat Kohli has jointly reached number two with Australian veteran Ricky Ponting in terms of scoring the most centuries as a Test captain. At the top of this list is former South African captain Graeme Smith, who has scored 25 centuries as a captain in Test cricket.

Kohli and Ponting have 19–19 centuries as Test captains. On the third list in this list, former Australia captain Alan Border, Steve Waugh and Steve Smith. All three have 15 centuries.

Virat has reached number four in terms of scoring 26 Test centuries in the fewest innings. He achieved this feat in 138th Test innings. Earlier, Australian giants Sir Don Bradman 69 and Steve Smith achieved this position in 121st innings.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar touched the figure of 26 Test centuries in the 144th innings.

Kohli is India’s most successful Test captain. He has won 29 out of 49 Tests and lost 10 matches. 10 matches are drawn. Dhoni had won 27 out of 60 Test matches. At the same time, Ganguly had won 21 Tests.
