Led by Founder and Chairperson Nita Ambani, Reliance Foundation (RF) has launched a widespread cleanliness campaign in its operational areas, with the support of Government of India’s ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign.

In Reliance Foundation’s areas of operation in Radhanpur, Gujarat, the members of RF-supported Village Associations met to engage with each other and discuss the importance of cleanliness in homes as well as public places. The discussion dealt with diseases caused by the lack of hygiene and unsanitary conditions. The problems resulting from open defecation, and high child mortality rates in unhygienic environments.

Rallies were organised in villages to aware people about the importance of composting, total sanitation programmes and waste management. Other important discussions initiated on school sanitation, afforestation, income generation activity though solid waste management.

All participants formally pledged to keep their homes and environment clean and hygienic.
