A video of openly distributing money for votes in Intola and Gosindra villages of Karjan seat of Gujarat Legislative Assembly has gone viral in the social media. The Congress put allegations on the BJP and has written to the Returning Officer to take action in the matter.

The Congress, in a submission to the Returning Officer, said, that while elections are being held today, cash-for-vote is being going on at Intola and Gosindra by the BJP to buy votes in public. It is a violation of the model code of conduct and immediate arrest of those who distribute rupee against votes and take legal action against them. They also demand to take action to register their complaint to keep such people in police custody till the election is over.

Nine candidates are contesting in the Karjan seat, but there is a direct battle between BJP’s Akshay Patel and Congress’ Kirit Singh Jadeja. The Karjan constituency has a total of 2,04,608 registered voters, including 1,04,834 male and 99,761 female as well as 13 others. Voting is taking place at a total of 311 polling stations, including 246 main polling stations and 65 supplements.
