Last Wednesday night a vegetable vendor died after he was knocked down by the car driven by private practitioner doctor.
The vegetables vendor was standing with his cart near VMC quarters Diwalipura like everyday when the car hit him and he died. Police registered the case and in the process to arrest the accused. However the police said that the driver of the car unable to see the cow on the road and hit the victim. The accused is the husband of superintendent of Gotri Medical college.
Gotri police PSI C.D. Shinde said that Nivrutbhai Sapkal 42 is living with his wife in Shivajipuri near VMC quarters. The deceased runs the vegetable cart for earning and his son is working in Mumbai.
Nivrutbhai Sapkal after ferrying around societies selling vegetables later sell vegetables on footpath near Nisar park VMC quarters. On Wednesday night he was standing with his cart with vegetables when suddenly around 9.30 pm private practitioner Dr. Siddharth Naik knocked him down with his car no. GJ 06 JE 1728. Sapkal later died in the hospital after ambulance took him to the hospital in serious condition. The accused is husband of Gotri Medical college Superintendent.
The locals of the area said that after the impact Nivrutbhai Sapkal was thrown in the air and hit the road hard and the cart was also thrown away. The other vegetable vendors ran for safety after the accident leaving behind their carts.
The accused driver left the car on the spot and escaped from the spot. The people gathered at the spot called the 108 ambulence and it took him to Gotri hospital and later to the SSG hospital where he died after primary treatment.
Gotri police PSI C.D. Shinde and his staff rushed to the spot and seized the car and regiatered the offence against the accused doctor. PSI said that they are in process to arrest the doctor. The police further said that the doctor told them that acow suddenly came on the road and he was unable to see and lost control of the car.
