Vadodara’s ward 1 need good interior roads and water supply

As local body elections are approaching in Vadodara, let’s look at the wards and problems facing by the locals.

Ward No-1 is said to be the gateway to Vadodara and Chhani village comes first while coming from Ahmedabad. The development in the area is rapid after it has been included in the corporation.

Equipped with facilities like roads, water, street lights, beautification of lakes, areas of Navayard, TP 13, Chhani Road, Maruti Dham Duplex, Chhani Jakatnaka, Chhani village and others are included in the ward.

The area has mainly water and road problems. Residents of the area approached the corporation from time to time for the problems related to low pressure and contaminated water. Stench spread due to untimely disposal of garbage heaps and people often complained of find it difficult to live in such condition. However, the problem largely disappeared after the formation of sidewalks in the area.

A local resident if the area said, there is a huge problem of drinking water in our area and the issue has been raised several times during the last five years. There is lack of good roads in the area mainly the interior ones, although the main roads are good.

They also raised the issue many times with the corporation but the work is not done. As the councillors term came to an end the main roads were built and garbage disposal started on time. But the condition of internal roads are still the same.

Another resident said, the area faces the problem of water coming at low pressure and as a result they have to call private tankers. Despite paying tax, the water is not coming with sufficient pressure and also contaminated which raise fear of health issues. The interior roads in Navayard are not in good shape and water and drainage leakage problems are frequent in the area.

Another resident said the area has seen good growth in the last five years, the roads have become better, construction of sidewalks has reduced the amount of dirt and people who used to throw garbage on the road avoid it because it becomes a sidewalk.

Corporation introduced trucks for door to door garbage collection in the area. The formation of new societies leads to rapid growth in the area. However more gardens and low water pressure are some of the issues need to be addressed.
