The Vadodara Trade Development Association has appealed to the mayor and police commissioner to close Vadodara markets after 7 pm to curb the transition of Corona in city.
They mentioned that people wear masks during the day in fear of fines, but after 6 pm, 60 per cent people are going out without wearing a mask. Even they don’t follow any social distancing which is dangerous.
Paresh Parikh from Vadodara Trade Development Association said, the number of Corona cases in Vadodara is increasing at rapid pace and people are not taking it seriously. They have written to the administration about closure of shops in the evening and as the cases are increasing it just needs to be strictly enforced.
As they know Corona has caused huge economic losses to traders, but the only way to prevent the pandemic is for markets to close after 7 p.m. People wear masks during the day to avoid paying fines and in the evening go out without wearing masks. According to their survey, 60 percent of people walk around in the evening without wearing a mask.
He further said that in areas including Alkapuri, Sayajiganj, Mandvi, Nyayamandir, Raopura Road, people walk in crowds without wearing masks. Social distancing are just not followed properly.
During the day, people complete their work and go for walks in the evening causing the transition of Corona to increase. If the cases are not brought under control now it will escalate in the coming days. Therefore they appeal to the government as well as the local bodies to close all the markets after 7 pm.
Bharat Chauhan, president of the Footwear Merchant Association of Vadodara said, the number of cases of Corona in Vadodara is increasing alarmingly day by day. Therefore, the markets of Vadodara should be closed from 7 pm.
Corona has caused people’s businesses to collapse, there has been no trade and so all are ready to close their shops and showrooms after 7 pm. If an order is issued to close the markets in Vadodara after 7 pm, he is sure that the cases in Vadodara will definitely decrease.
Looking at the current Corona situation, the government should close markets not only in Vadodara, but across Gujarat after 7 pm. If the government and the local authorities do not wake up now, the situation will went out of their hands.
