Vadodara railway LCB caught members of notorious Sansi gang involved in theft of diamond jewellery worth 14lakhs belongs to a NRI lady. The gang belongs to Rohtak Haryana and around 100 members of them are operating all across the country.

As per the details the complainant Lata Tolani originally from Gandhinagar and now resides in 17W718 Butterfield Road, Apartment no. 301, Oakbrook Terrace, Linois Chicago USA was travelling in 12494 Hazrat Nizamudin Puna AC train with her sister and children on 3rd February 2018. She was travelling from Ratlam to Vadodara and before getting off from the train four persons approached her to help her unloading the luggage at Vadodara station.

Meanwhile the four unknown persons cleverly opened the purse and decamp with the diamond jewellery kept inside worth 14 lakhs. As the offence was registered the police checked the CCTV footage and found one suspicious accused named Chandu from Rohatak involved in the crime. The team then went to Rohatak and during investigation found Chandu and Fakira involved in many theft cases on board trains and now they are planning to visit Surat to sell the diamond jewellery.

The team then followed the lead and kept a watch based on the phone location of the accused and found them in waiting room at Vadodara railway station. The team reached the spot and arrested both of them while they are waiting near the ticket window. Police recovered cash and jewellery from their bags belongs to the NRI lady.

“The accused belongs to notorious Sansi gang involved in railway thefts all across the country. As per their MO the members board the trains done reiki and committed crime pretending to help the passengers. They have mastery in such type of theft and hide the jewellery inside the bathroom till they reach their destination. The gang is famous for such big thefts in the past and around 100 of such gangs are operation in India,” said Sharad Singhal SP Western Railway Vadodara.

The police is also in the process to investigate the TT on board the Nizammudin Pune express as how he give general tickets to the accused as it’s a fully AC train and such tickets are not allowed in there.
