A person who went to rob a gold-silver shop on Makrand Desai Road in the city under the guise of a customer was nabbed by the Vadodara police. The accused tried to rob gold chain and cash from the shop owner by make him sniffing a handkerchief sprayed with unconscious substance.

The accused went to the shop of gold-silver “Jean Kushal Jewelers” in front of Shivshakti Shopping Center Rajivnagar-1 Swaminarayan Temple on Makrand Desai Road at noon, and asked for quotation of items of house cleaning. The shop owner was preparing quotations by writing the prices of different items and showing it to the robber came as a customer.

At that moment, the accused handed the sprayed handkerchief to the shop owner to sniff but he denied. The accused then forcibly tried to make him sniff the handkerchief and try to rob the gold chain worn by the shop owner as well as cash from the shop.

However, the accused was apprehended by the Gotri police before he succeed in attempting to carry out the robbery.

During interrogation he said his name was Jagdish Rameshchandra Thakkar a resident of Gotri and earns his living by driving an auto rickshaw. Gotri police have registered a case of attempted robbery against him and further investigating.
