Vadodara railway station which boasts of many awards fell on its face on Monday as the Passenger Amenities Committee (PAC) gives 30% marks to the station after the surprise inspection. The two members committee showed their displeasure after review the facilities given at the station and said the station falls apart in their expectations.

Dr. Ashok Tripathi and Mohammad Irfan Ahmed the two members PAC team makes a surprise visit at the Vadodara railway station to check the facilities and amenities given to the passengers at the railway station. Both of them along with the top railway officials and RPF of Vadodara division visits every platform and checked the things extensively. They also walked besides the tracks to check the cleanliness and other parameters being observed at the railway station.

However the team showed their displeasure after the visit and said the station performed much below to their expectations. They give 30% numbers to the Vadodara station in the parameters of Sanitation, Amenities and Maintenance.

“On the directions of PM Narendra Modi, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and the railway ministry we came here to check the facilities at the Vadodara railway station at ground Zero. The parameters we check are the facilities to the passengers, security, sanitation, maintenance and others. As Vadodara is the constituency of PM Modi so the expectations are high for us. But to our surprise the station performed much below and failed to live up to our expectations,” said Dr. Ashok Tripathi one of the PAC member.

The team visits the food stalls and also talked to the passengers about their expectations and make reports which will be submitted to the ministry. “There is a organised crime running at the station in catering where unauthorised vendors were allowed inside the station. The same is not possible without the involvement of officers and employees. We asked for the CCTV footage of the last three days and access the details and whoever is responsible will be punished. Secondly the passengers complained about rude behaviour of the officials when they approached them for their queries which is also very shocking as the present government is looking to give better facilities and services to the passengers and this type of thing is unacceptable,” said Tripathi.
