Demand to provide basic facilities to the citizens

The Vadodara City Congress had given a public memo to the Municipal Commissioner with a demand to provide facilities to the citizens suffering from problems including roads, drainage as well as contaminated water in the city.

They demand punishment the corrupt, and introduced early solutions to the problems of the citizens. They also shouted slogans against the administration.

In a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner, led by Vadodara City Congress President Prashant Patel states, that the people of Vadodara city, who are fighting against Corona, are also fighting against the corrupt administration of the corporation.

People are paying three times more tax than other cities in Gujarat, but the corporation has failed miserably to perform. The condition of the roads in Vadodara city are bad, there is not a single good road in the city without pits and bad roads are reducing the lifespan of people’s vehicles. The corporation has also failed to provide clean water and also not clean the drainage and maintain cleanliness.

The application also alleges that the city is now plagued by stagnant and foul-smelling water, causing people to fear a waterborne epidemic along with the Corona pandemic.

In the coming days people will have to face waterborne diseases along with Coronavirus and the situation in the city has deteriorated due to corrupt administration and contractors. Crores of rupees are spent by the corporation, but itt does not appear to be used in the city.

City Congress president Prashant Patel said, Congress workers including opposition leader Chandrakant Srivastava, councilor Anil Parmar, Chirag Zaveri, Farid Katpiswala, spokesperson Amit Gotikar arrived at the municipal corporation office with banners and posters and a public memo was given to the Municipal Commissioner on behalf of the people. An application was also submitted to provide basic facilities to the people of Vadodara city as soon as possible.

Municipal Commissioner P. Swaroop said, from the opposition and various areas of the city they have received complaints about roads damaged due to monsoon, contaminated water, drainage and sanitation.

The corporation has started work on this matter on priority basis, where first of all action has been taken to provide clean water to the people of Vadodara. Necessary instructions have also been given after holding a meeting with the officials for road and cleaning.
