Gives memorandum to the collector in shorts

The Gujarat government has made blue aprons compulsory for auto rickshaw drivers as a uniform. However the Baroda auto rickshaw drivers protested the decision in a unique way on Wednesday. They reached the collector office wearing shorts and gives a memorandum against the move.

The Gujarat government yesterday issued a notification regarding the uniforms of auto rickshaw drivers. In order to identify auto rickshaw drivers in the state, blue aprons have been made mandatory as a uniform for them. But the decision has been protested by the state’s auto rickshaw association.

On Wednesday rickshaw drivers from Vadodara, wearing shorts reached the district collector’s office and protested in a unique way. They give memorandum to the Additional Collector in view of their demands. They said the lockdown has seriously affected their employment and they don’t even have enough money to purchase clothes of their children.

So how can they get aprons from them worth around thousands of rupees. Before making the blue uniform, they demand to announce a relief package for auto rickshaw drivers and threaten will not abide by the rules if their demands are not met. They request the government to give a period of one year to them.
